July 2, 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM

As global marketplaces get increasingly competitive for accountants and financial professionals, the US CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification has started acting as one of the key differentiators in ensuring job readiness and career advancement. Indian accounting and finance students as well as professionals can also be a part of the elite group having the highest management accounting qualification in the US. Not only does the US CMA certification empower professionals with skill-sets for global credibility and opportunities with Multi-national Corporations, but it can also be achieved in a relatively much shorter timeframe as compared to equivalent Indian certifications.

Key highlights of the US CMA course:

-- Highest management accounting qualification in US; US equivalent of Indian CMA (earlier CWA) or UK CIMA. MoU between IMA & ICAI (formerly ICWAI) ensures mutual recognition of US & Indian CMAs

-- Offered by Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), US

-- Only 2 exams which can be cleared in a timeframe of 8 months:

(i) Financial Reporting, Planning, Performance & Control,

(ii) Financial Decision-making

-- Exams in India

-- Exams can be taken by students even before completing their graduation

-- Extensive career opportunities with MNCs

Recognizing the value-addition of the US CMA credential, Christ University, Bangalore, has signed up to be the Approved University Partner of the IMA. Christ University will now be offering the CMA program to its commerce students along with their regular coursework. Christ University students opting to pursue the CMA program will study using “official” IMA-licensed Wiley CMA-excel Learning System. Training would be delivered by Miles Professional Education, IMA’s official partner for CMA training across the Indian subcontinent.

Speaking about Wiley’s partnership with Christ University, IMA and Miles Education, Mr. Vikas Gupta, Managing Director, Wiley India, said “Wiley’s goal in designing this course and undertaking this partnership was to address the growing need for finance and accounting professionals in India, through the US CMA credential. We wanted to develop a program which would allow undergraduate and post-graduate students (B.Com/BBA/MBA/CA) in any year to appear for the exams simultaneous to their college studies. The objective of the partnership is to help students take their careers to the next level, along the shortest, fastest and most cost-effective path to a globally-recognized professional certification. Wiley is very excited about this partnership and keenly looks forward to helping Christ University’s students get the most from the CMA course.”

The event will mark Christ University’s partnership with IMA, Wiley and Miles, and another step towards Christ University’s mission of being a nurturing ground for holistic development attained through academic excellence and professional competence, personal, inter-personal and societal skills.
