Wiley participated in the Chief Learning Officers (CLO) Summit 2015, in Mumbai, from 10-11th Sept. Mr. Vikas Gupta, MD, Wiley India, was part of the eminent speakers panel at the event, and he spoke about the ‘Changing Paradigms in On-the-Job Learning and Apprenticeship.’ He explained how the employability of graduates  in India was low, primarily due to the assessment models followed by educational institutions. These models all emphasize measurement or assessment of knowledge and not real-world, industry-relevant skills, and this creates a gap between college graduates and job-ready professionals. In order to bridge this gap, we need on-the-job apprenticeship experience along with live projects, but it is not feasible for everyone to receive this training. The solution, pointed out Mr. Gupta, is that: “We need to use technology to simulate the apprenticeship experience in a virtual environment. At Wiley, we provide comprehensive solutions in order to help students and professionals be workforce ready using the ‘Learn-Do-Test-Certify’ approach, which includes, online video-based training modules (Learn), hands-on virtual labs (Do), independent assessments (Test) and finally vendor-neutral, industry-endorsed certification (Certify).’

 

Through a collaboration with Purdue University, Wiley offers the PurdueNExT programs, which provide specific, marketable skills required by the industry, and aimed at global exposure. For finance and accounting professionals, in partnership with global certification bodies, Wiley offers globally recognized certification solutions, such as CPAexcel, CMAexcel and CFA Exam Review.
