To ensure the effective management and development of Content/Project resources (including supplements and ancillary products in print, digital and other delivery formats) and that the final products conform to the vision behind them. Taking ownership of the product in terms of adhering to the standards set for product design, quality, and timely production.  To undertake research to identify competition and to manage suitable mapping/benchmarking activities for the development of best in class products.  Accountable for the quality of the resources such as its language, structure, consistency, flow and specifications. Working closely with authors to add further value to the resources through research, competition analysis and market dynamics. Developing a network of reliable external editorial and subject matter resources to outsource work and assume responsibility to ensure that the input is of best possible quality. Work in collaboration with the acquisition /sales team towards completion of catalog for the designated market and as mandated by management

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

MAJOR ACTIVITIES

1.

STRATEGIC PLANNING

  • Adhere to strategic publishing plan for the designated market/sector
  • Conduct and analyse requirement and market research, both formal and internal. Identify and engage resources for development of products for the designated market
  • Identify existing Wiley resources for base content and analyse strategies to re-design or re-purpose it effectively

 

  • Aid in maximizing sales and profitability and contribute to achievement of long-term and annual revenue objectives for designated market/sector
  • Develop products that meet market needs

 

  • Aid in meeting market requirement by mining and re-purposing existing Wiley resources

2.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

  • Develop high-quality cost effective products by:

- developing detailed curriculum that meets the requirement

- performing in-depth analysis of the content

- managing SME reviews

- Supervising outsourced work and inputs from colleagues, advisors, other stakeholders etc

- Evaluating manuscripts for subject and editorial quality

 

  • Work closely with authors/SME resources to ensure that project meets planned objectives

 

  • Interact closely with editorial services and production team/vendors to ensure that the content resources are prepared and submitted in a manner that conforms to production guidelines

 

  • Contribute to the development and completion of projects which meet market needs and program objectives, while optimizing profitability in support of operational plans.

 

  • Build a panel of authors/SMEs for various domain categories

 

  • Delivering content resources as per specification into production

3.

ACQUISITION OF PRODUCTS AND MARKET RESEARCH

 

Work closely with the acquisitions and sales team to follow up on authorship leads. Actively engage in acquisition of products that meet the needs of the designated market category.

 

Participate in the development of business plans for projects outside usual formats in consultation with Publisher and acquisitions team

 

Keep track of market dynamics actively, and use the knowledge to develop cutting-edge and market relevant products

 

 

Contribute to completing the list of products that need to be developed as per the strategic plan objectives of the designated market category

Aid in expansion of scope of range of products into new business options


Aid in creating outcome oriented, robust, cost effective products.
