JEE Main & Advanced Information 2013

 

1. Eligibility criteria for candidates who have qualified their 10+2 examination in 2012: 60% marks in their 12th Board or equivalent (55% for SC/ST/PD candidates).

2. Eligibility criteria for candidates who have qualified their 10+2 examination in 2013: Top 20 percentile of the successful candidates in their Boards, category-wise.

3. Eligibility criteria for those appearing for board exam in 2013 but percentile scores are not available: The CBSE score for top 20 percentile of the successful candidates in the student’s category will be used.

5. Eligibility for JEE (Advanced): The top 1,50,000 candidates based on performance in JEE Main will qualify to appear in the JEE (Advanced) examination.

6. Admission to IITs: Based on category-wise All India Rank (AIR) in JEE (Advanced), provided such candidates are in the top 20 percentile (category wise) in their respective Boards/qualifying examinations.

7. Admission to NITs: Based on 40 % weightage for performance in Class XII board/ equivalent examination marks the remainder 60 % weightage for performance in JEE Main. Based on this, a combined All India Rank (AIR) would be decided accordingly. 

JEE MAIN (2013)

  • Minimum academic qualification for appearing in JEE (Main)- 2013: Candidate must have passed in the final examination of 10+2 (Class XII) or its equivalent referred to as the qualifying examination. The candidate appearing in 10+2 (Class XII) final or equivalent examination in 2013 may also appear provisionally in JEE(Main) 2013.
  • Registration for JEE (Main): In view of JEE-2013 being the first examination in the new pattern, the registration that was to be done online between 08.11.2012 and 15.12.2012 only has now been extended till 24.12.2012. The forms can be accessed from www.jeemain.nic.in. The computer generated confirmation page (and demand draft, if fee is paid through this) must reach JEE (Main) office on or before 31.12.2012 by registered or speed post after which it will not be accepted.

Online registration, the authorities have noticed some mistakes in the forms. For the benefit of the students, one more chance for the correction of particulars is being given to the candidates. The dates during which the particulars can be corrected are 08.02.2013 to 14.02.2013. The city and mode of examination (computer based to pen and paper based) will not be entertained. The correction slips along with bank draft for the additional amount if required should be sent to the address below so as to reach on or before 18.02.2013.

The slots/dates for computer based examination can be selected till 22.02.2013. The slots can be selected on first come first served basis. In case any selection is not made till 22.02.2013, then a random slot will be given.

The computer-based examination, erstwhile being conducted at only one center (Ernakulam) in Kerala will now also be conducted at Kottayam, Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram on 9th, 22nd, 23rd and 25th April, 2013. Those students who have enrolled for computer-based examination and Ernakulam and KEAM-2013, can now provide a choice to appear at any of the above centers and dates. The last date for this facility is 22.02.2013.

  • Fees for JEE (Main):

For pen and paper based examination:

    • JEE (Main) Paper I OR Paper II:  For Indian citizens, INR 800 for boys and INR 400 for girls in general category and INR 400 each for boys and girls in SC/ST/PwD category. For foreign citizens, INR 2000 for boys and INR 1000 for girls in general category and INR 1000 each for boys and girls in SC/ST/PwD category.
    • JEE (Main) Paper I AND Paper II:  For Indian citizens, INR 1400 for boys and INR 700 for girls in general category and INR 700 each for boys and girls in SC/ST/PwD category. For foreign citizens, INR 3000 for boys and INR 1500 for girls in general category and INR 1500 each for boys and girls in SC/ST/PwD category.
  • For computer based examination:
    • JEE (Main) Paper I OR Paper II:  For Indian citizens, INR 500 for boys and INR 250 for girls in general category and INR 250 each for boys and girls in SC/ST/PwD category. For foreign citizens, INR 2000 for boys and INR 1000 for girls in general category and INR 1000 each for boys and girls in SC/ST/PwD category.
    • JEE (Main) Paper I AND Paper II:  For Indian citizens foreign citizens, INR 3000 for boys and INR 1500 for girls in general category and INR 1500 each for boys and girls in SC/ST/PwD category.

  • AIEEE papers (for last 12 years) can be downloaded from CBSE website http://www.cbse.nic.in/welcome.htm 
  • In case a candidate has appeared for AIEEE exam last year, it will be considered as an attempt in JEE (Main) exam. A candidate can attempt only thrice for JEE (Main) in three consecutive years.
  • Eligibility for appearing in JEE (Main)-2013: Candidates who have passed +2 exam in 2011 or 2012 or appearing in +2 in 2013. Candidates who passed +2 in 2010 or before or appearing in 2014 are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main)-2013.
  • Age limit: Candidates born on or after October 01, 1988 are eligible. Upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for. SC, ST and PWD candidates.
  • Amanuenses for blind students: Yes, student of Class XI (Commerce/Humanities) without Mathematics will only be provided as amanuenses and an additional time of one hour will be given.
  • Pattern of JEE (Main) examination:
    • Paper I (For all other undergraduate courses): Both online and offline modes; Objective Type Questions in Physics, chemistry and Mathematics.
    • Paper II (For B. Arch. and B. Planning in institutes other than IITs): Only offline mode; Objective Type Questions in Part I Mathematics and Part II Aptitude Test and questions to test drawing aptitude in  Part III Drawing Test.
  • Schedule of JEE (Main) Examination:

Paper I and II (Offline mode): On 07.04.2013, Paper I – 9.30 am to 12.30 pm; Paper II – 2 pm to 5 pm.

Paper I (Online mode): Between 08.04.2012 and 25.04.2012, 9 am to 12 pm (first shift) and 2 pm to 5 pm (second shift, if required).

The exact dates and slots will be displayed on the website on 01.02.2013 and the slot and date selection can be made between 01.02.2013 and 15.02.2013.

  • Admit card: It can be downloaded from JEE (Main) website www.jeemain.nic.in from 05.03.2013 onwards. The admit cards can be downloaded for applications whose status shows “Received”. In case the students find any mistakes in the photograph, signature, etc., a mail can be sent to jeemain@nic.in.
  • The candidates for JEE Main Examination should fill up their Class 12/qualifying examination roll nos. and correct it in case they have filled it incorrectly by logging on to www.jeemain.nic.in. The date for corrections has been extended up to 25.04.2013. 
  • For the candidates appearing for JEE (Main) on 07.04.2013 at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, the following changes have been made in roll numbers.  For roll no. series 86403181 to 86403480, the new examination centre is ChinmayaVidyalaya, Thondamuthur Road, Vadavalli, Coimbatore 641041 Tamil Nadu   For roll no. series  86403481 to 86403780, the new examination centre is KikaniVidhyaMandir, No-9, Rangaswamy Road, R.S. Some students have made mistakes in submitting their Class 12/qualifying roll nos. Now the validation of this information will be done during JEE (Main) 2013 in both pen and paper based as well as computer based examinations by providing an authentication sheet to the candidates. The following documents should be brought along: 

 

    • For candidates who qualified Class 12/qualifying examination in 2011 or 2012 but did not opt for performance improvement in 2013, copy of final mark sheet of the concerned examination is required.
    • For candidates who qualified Class 12/qualifying examination in 2011 or 2012 but opted for performance improvement in all subjects in 2013, copy of admit card or hall ticket for 2013 examination is required.
    • For candidates appearing in Class 12/qualifying examination 2013, copy of admit card/qualifying examination 2013 is required.

Apart from this, the students should bring their admit cards for JEE (Main) 2013 also.

The pen and paper based examination will be conducted on 07.04.2013 and the computer based examinations on 09, 22, 23 and 25.04.2013. For all the different dates, different sets of question papers will be used. All the question papers cover the entire syllabus and the syllabus of each subject is divided into appropriate number of units and equal number of questions has been chosen from each unit taking care of an equal distribution of difficulty levels as in the examination conducted in 2012.

For the students who appeared for the examination on 07.04.2013, the scanned images of the answer sheets with the recorded responses can be accessed from www.cbse.nic.in and www.jeemain.nic.in between 30.04.2013 and 02.05.2013. The challenges can only be submitted online for a fee of Rs. 500 only per recorded response through a bank draft. If the challenge is accepted, the fee will be refunded. For students who appeared in online examination, the recorded responses will be mailed to the provided e-mail ids. If the roll nos. of Class 12 or qualifying examination are not submitted, the results will not be declared. For further details, please visit
