Position Title: Product Manager – Professional Development

To own and update the product roadmap for Wiley PD products. Analyze and develop detailed product specifications (including content and product features, pedagogy and approach, technology/platform features, market differentiators and sales handles) for existing, forthcoming and  indigenous products. Educate and train in-house teams as well as strategic partners/clients and deliver product demos. Research and collect product specific empirical data for sales team. Develop and finalize communication copy for all PD products. Contribute significantly to  developing marketing strategies for products and work closely with the marketing team to ensure awareness of all assigned products across marketing channels. Research market need and requirement extensively and analyze client/customer requirements to aid creating strategic plan for new products, and positioning of existing products.  Address  customer inquiries about the products  and work closely with editorial, sales, marketing, and customer support to improve product development strategies.

STRATEGIC PLANNING AND RESEARCH

In consultation with management, contribute to the strategic publishing plan for the designated market/sector by defining the long term strategy of products as firmed up in the   product roadmap

  • Conduct extensive market research though market study and client/customer communication to understand market requirements, and develop market requirement documents accordingly
  • Track customer feedback and data to measure success and engagement of new and existing products.
  • Conduct comparative analysis of similar products in the market

 

  • Aid in maximizing sales and profitability and contribute to creating long-term and annual revenue for designated market/sector

 

  • Understand market dynamics and educate all stakeholders leading to solid strategies for designated market

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

  • Work in close collaboration with Editorial and Sales for development and positioning of products

 

  • Accompany sales team to client/customer sites for product demo, presenting product features and sales handles. Maintain client servicing relationships with potential clients and strategic partners

 

  • Train in-house teams regarding product features and differentiating factors

 

  • Work closely with marketing team to develop final communication copy and presentation for products

 

 

  • Contribute to the development and completion of projects which meet market needs and program objectives

 

  • Aid sales team to make a successful business case for products

 

  • Be a bridge between the product development, sales, and marketing teams, helping to understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. Ensure that internal as well as external teams are able to view the complete and big picture and strategic positioning for each product

 

  • Aid in developing effective communication with regard to positioning of products for internal and external stakeholders
